Perspective-Taking: Responding to the Poetry of Yung Pueblo

By Alisha Graetz One of Yung Pueblo’s collection of poems, The Way Forward , was published on October 10, 2023. The poem on page 73 of this collection focuses on how a relationship needs more than just connections to prevent a breakup. Surface relationships lack the roots to weather a storm which is the depth and strength that’s required in a root system. The purpose of storms is to make the roots dig deeper and roots prevent them from being utterly destroyed. The first line of stanza one “if connections alone were enough,” is known that it isn’t enough for a relationship to survive. It’s a good place to start but a long way off from the finish line.   Having the same dreams in life doesn’t help us to endure a personal loss of a loved one or tragedy. The one who comes back from war for instance, loss of limbs, loss of their metal feeling of security, the flashback or the emotional imbalances being carried in their mind as they work through things they experienced don’t g...

The Impact of Technology on Human Relationships

By Alisha Graetz                The impact of technology on our relationships has a positive and negative effect. Relationships were challenging before technology, now they can be impossible without keeping our connections with one another balanced from the pressure we are under from technology.   The work and life balance has always been a juggling, now with so many work-from-home opportunities, the need for balance is enhanced. Technology isolates in the in-person experience, it influences our connection as individuals, the mental health of our generation is strained, and it affects how we connect to the world in a way that we could have never imagined before. The web of technology has entangled our daily lives and, like a snowball going downhill, we are being captivated by its influence, we will need to set boundaries to keep our identity.           ...

Educational Options as an Adults

Educational Options as an Adults Do you recall the college talks growing up? How the grown-ups would push the importance of getting a good education?! But we were so high on just living life, and honestly, we weren’t wrong but neither were they. But fast forward to seeing our babies turn into young blooming pre-teens, 13 going on 30. You heard the talk of “empty nesting” but what about the pre-empty nest days. You know where your babies need less emotional nurturing and more summer jobs and dad time in the shop. Well, let’s talk education as an adult planning a little late for the fun college days. How many thought college was not really important, we knew people who were making it in life without a college degree. Maybe like me, you had no one before you go to college, you just seen the hard-working dads, uncles and grandpas and moms, aunts and grandmas holding down the 9-5 stead drop in the bucket jobs. And that’s honestly what we thought life was meant to be. I reckon ther...

Biblical Healing

What is faith? How does healing come? Can we trust God, better question, is He faithful, is He true to His word? There's no question there but let’s put a quick answer to this, Yes, without a doubt,   He is. He is faithful & we can trust Him! But this doesn’t stop the enemy’s questions passing through our mind trying to cause doubt. What is Childlike faith … it comes from a place of “love covers the multitude of sins” mentioned in 1Peter 4:8. Applying that concept to our life is a complete trust in God from a place of love we have toward God. 1Corinthians 12:9 mentions the “gift of healing” but verse 4 says it the “SAME Spirit ” and verse 5 says it’s the “ SAME Lord ” and verse 6 says it’s the “ SAME God which worketh all in all” . So what is it that brings the healing? A man? Someone God has revealed himself to who is a willing vessel to reach and build the faith of others by creating an atmosphere or by telling stories that calls to something deep inside and draws...

What’s Next

What’s Next Someone once said age didn’t bother them as long as they were happy where they were in life. I would say that was a fair outlook at aging. For me, aging has been hard to accept, it doesn’t scare me, but it stresses me. It’s like racing the clock, you can’t beat it. I am sure you have heard the sayings time stands still for no one, time isn’t on your side, time isn’t your friend. That is how I feel about aging. The benefits of age, watching the kids grow up, wisdom from the years gone by. Of course that makes hindsight 20/20. What I coulda done, shoulda done different. You start living where you are. Live everyday with no regrets. Live it to the fullest possible. Travel, start a hobby, maybe a hobby farm. Look into educating yourself, it isn’t to late. There’s degrees, community colleges aren’t difficult to reach an associate’s degree, but also look into certificates. check it out here:  https://proverbs-home-n-heart.blogspot.com/2024/12/educational...
